“He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.” ~ Muhammad Ali
Invited by Taiwan’s largest fitness brand to conduct AntiGravity Fitness teacher training courses at World Gym was very exciting. I am humbled by these projects as they give me a sense of adding value and contribution to both personal health and business development. Fascinated by Asian cultures, without hesitation I accepted the job and and made head way to share, experience, and inspire the the team of World Gym.
We started on the east coast of the island at World Gym’s latest fitness club in Yilan. Enrolled were seventeen trainees, ten of which were men! Different from western cultures where Yoga is seen more for women, here in Asia men seem to be much more open to yoga and functional fitness programs.
After four long days of Fundamentals training, we moved to Taipei for the second round of teacher trainings of which I held AntiGravity Restorative Yoga and AntiGravity AIRbarre. Come to find out I would be the vessel for AntiGravity Restorative Yoga to arrive in Taiwan, I channeled what Christopher and Shelly put together to deliver the program with excellence. It was great to be the first precentor of AntiGravity Restorative Yoga in Taiwan, as the miraculously benefits of this technique I knew would bring the trainers and their clients amazing benefits.
Taiwan is a beautiful country with big open sky, vast farm land, and huge cities. Drastically different than life in Hong Kong in many ways, I was keen to adventure and explore some of it. On my off day I ventured to Lungshan Temple and Taipei 101. The breath taking Chinese architecture at the Buddhist temple, and views from the top of Taipei 101 made for an incredible day.
The trainers I worked with at World Gym were exceptionally strong in both body awareness and strength, for the most part. Challenges lie in learning how to teach people who do not speak english as their first language. Body language and a good translator who knows the technique are crucial in effectively conveying the course curriculum. However since all of them currently teach multiple modalities, I had full confidence that with practice with what we learnt they will all make wonderful AntiGravity teachers.
Overall it was a complete success! The new AntiGravity Fitness trainers are packed with teaching materials, inspiration and support as they spread health and happiness throughout Taiwan. Special thanks to World Gym, Vincent my assist and translator, and Christopher Harrison for making this all possible. I had an amazing time sharing with the 30 trainers, and experiencing Taiwan.
